Jessie Unterhalter and Katey Truhn are a Baltimore-based artist duo who met at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2001, both originally from the suburbs of New York. Collaborating on large-scale murals since 2012, their work explores themes of movement and symmetry, inspired by bold color combinations, woven textiles, and the architectural surfaces of each environment. Their dynamic paintings often curve around corners and spill onto the ground, using a chromatically intense palette accentuated by moments of black and white. From Rochester to Russia, Jessie and Katey have been commissioned nationally and internationally to transform public spaces into playful and vibrant experiences. Their work has been featured at Baltimore's Open Walls, POW! WOW! Hawaii, Art Basel Miami's Wynwood Walls, the American Alliance of Museums Conference, and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
