Lakwena Maciver is a London-based artist whose work brings together text, pattern, painting, and installation. Born to an English mother and Ugandan father and shaped by time spent in Ethiopia and Kenya, she draws on multiple visual and cultural lineages, including graphic design, sign painting, illuminated manuscripts, and Black diasporic identity. Her murals are often built from bold phrases and radiant color, using public space as a site for invitation, affirmation, and collective address. Since gaining wider attention through her Wynwood Walls mural in 2013, Lakwena has exhibited and produced commissions for major institutions and public sites.
